KIKO - 387 (Turquoise)

>> 2012/11/11

I've been missing, I know. The thing is just, that I don't have that much posting material, so I guess until February I will write only a few other posts. I still owe you day 2 of my way to Siena...

I don't go shopping here, but when I do, I usually stop by the KIKO store. I was lucky to catch a few weeks of their nail polish sales and grabbed a few bottles at a reduced price. This is one of them - a slightly muddy tuquoise, I would say a seasonally adapted variation of China Glaze "Custom Kicks" minus the shimmer. Very smooth application, good durability - definitely worth having a look at!

Day 1: Germany - Verona

>> 2012/09/15

I'm sorry that I had to abandon this blog for more than two weeks. Saying "had to" is not a mere excuse. Dormitory internet is by far not the best and most stable connection that you can get (and also not very easy to get access to in the first place). Besides, my daily schedule is quite full with lectures, excursions and exploration tours through the town and, sure, also partys from time to time.

So we started early in the morning from Germany through Austrian Alps and arrived in Verona around 3 p.m. I have a crush on this city! It has everything: a beautiful landscape, amazing architecture everywhere, a decent shopping district and concerts (both opera and popular music) all around the year.

So if you're ever in the north of Italy - don't miss Verona out and also bring something with you to stick onto the wall of Juliet's house, or a lock to hang on the gates.I din't have anything with me, so I tied one of my bracelets to the gate :)

When you read this, I'll be gone...

>> 2012/08/30

I have been packing those suitcases (my laptop bag is still missing there) and by the time this post goes online I'll probably be crossing the German-Austrian border on my way through the north of Italy towards Siena. First stop will be Verona, on Friday a beach day was planned, but as it was ruined by the upcoming rainy weather (it will rain only on those last days with my family!), we'll have to find something else to do before we arrive in Siena on Friday evening.

I don't know whether the hotels have free internet access (they should, but they're small, so who knows), in the worst case I'll be back online on Sunday. Also I don't know how fast I can find someone who'll take pictures for the blog. Maybe I'm lucky and my roommate is a hobby photographer :)

Anyways, I have an interesting project planned and I'm curious myself how it will turn out, so stay tuned and see you soon!

OPI - Did It On 'Em

>> 2012/08/23

Today I have this "barf yellow" polish for you, from OPI's Nicki Minaj themed mini collection. I was actually going for "Gargantuan Green Grape", but it was sold out. My second option was this kind of yellow-ish green and I hoped the store I ordered my OPIs at had "Who the Shrek Are You?"... And guess what? They didn't, at all. And so I came to order that quite unusual color - it's awesome!

Formula - perfect. I needed only two coats because the streakiness melted away within seconds. Unfortunately I couldn't test out its durability, as I ruined it on the same day with some mint green glitter topcoat...

Here it's next to Ghina Glaze "Happy Go Lucky", where you can see the diference between "Did It On 'Em" and a true yellow (because that China Glaze is as yellow as yellow can be).

I think about making it greener with a drop of turquoise green. What do you think? Would you wear that color?

Almost Lost

>> 2012/08/19

I cleaned out the memory card of the camera and found pictures I totally forgot about. I remember the weather on that day being especially annoying - windy and bright sunlight was going on and off, because the wind kept chasing the clouds.

In two weeks I'll be writing from Siena, incredible! Currently I'm shopping for things I need and just by the way I buy lots of stuff I don't need... Isn't that what happens most of the time?

Honestly... have a look! (Link)

>> 2012/08/15

I found this website - Honestly... wtf - through StumbleUpon. It's an amazing site to get inspiration with lots of photography, art news etc. But what I fell for was Erica's  DIY section (in the screenshot). Maybe you want to go for a really unique statement necklace? I'm definitely going to try out those braided bead bracelets. And for those willing to make a real mess: ombre denim! Something else than the typical "shirt collar necklace" I seem to see on every DIY blog I open.

Neon Shorts

>> 2012/08/12

Long time since I last posted a look of my own. Unfortunately that doesn't depend on me solely, I also need someone to take the pictures. But today I finally got to wear out my new neon shorts and new glitter sandals (they came in one package). And this necklace featuring silhouettes of Russian dolls perfectly fit into there!
Also I in summer rush I raided some accessory racks and found two sets of multiple thin bracelets made of differently sized and shaped wooden beads, one green/brown and the other one purple/pink/brown, at the Bijou Brigitte store. Their accessories are good quality and affordable.

But now it's really time to pack. So hard to think of winter time, when you can still wear shorts and sandals outside...

OPI I Eat Mainely Lobster vs. essie Cute As A Button

>> 2012/08/06

OPI - essie - OPI - essie

Just as I promised - a comparison of OPI I Eat Manely Lobster that I presented yesterday and essie Cute As A Button. The two look very similar in the bottle (see below), but the difference was obvious right after I applied the first coat.

OPI - I Eat Mainely Lobster

>> 2012/08/05

Coral has been one of my favorite colors this season, but this is actually the second time I wear this polish since I got it in January.
I Eat Mainely Lobster is from last year's fall collection - Touring America - and it's a deep, beautiful coral with tiny gold particles. At least in the bottle. Do you see any on my nails? Although in bright sunlight it shimmers subtly.

You have to imagine the color a bit darker and more saturated than it looks on the pics. I tried to edit the photos to be closer to the original, but that's still not enough.

When my package with it arrived I was a bit disappointed seeing that this polish is very very similar to essie's Cute As A Button. I will compare the two for you.

This is a place where dreams are born...

>> 2012/07/29

Everything should be arranged now, except some formal deitails and so I decided to show you the place where I'll be blogging from in about a month - Siena. I was immediately taken away by the charm of this small Italian town and I knew I had to go back there and I think I know why I like it so much. Each town has it's personality, just like people and I seem to get along with Siena's personality very well :)

These pictures are all taken with my Olympus cam that will accompany me in Italy. The EOS will stay with my dad. I'm not a photographer, really. I just take pictures of moments that I like and I hope you like them, too.

Oh and btw, will you help me packing? :)

ONLY Rose Blazer

>> 2012/07/27

I'm very sorry not to have updated, but I was spending all my daytime at work this week and in the evening I always had to do some organizational stuff for my approaching semester abroad, it's going quite well so far! Now only one more week to hold on, then my internship ends! (I'm going to celebrate that!!!)
For the look I sported last weekend I chose my magenta jeans I bought at the s.Oliver outlet in January and also my beloved Only blazer! The Rose Men's Blazer was love at first sight and after I got this blue piece I also had to get myself the yellow one! One can never have enough color variations of an awesome piece of clothing, right? In the background of one picture you can also see the beautiful gothic cathedral of our city.

Sunday afternoon

>> 2012/07/18

I actually did it! I posted my first outfit on lookbook! It's quite simple, just as the occasion - I took a weekend walk with my family. The weather is being weird lately, more like fall than summer and that day (Sunday) was especially windy. I'm totally in love with that colorblock clutch bag!

OPI - Play the Peonies

I have a rule of thumb - the shorter the nails the lighter the nailpolish. I just can't seem to like brightly colored short nails and light colors seem to make the nails longer. Play the Peonies is from OPI's 2011 Nice Stems! collection and it's a pearly pink-ish off-white.

Wherever you go, go with all your heart

I guess it's time. It's time to start this blog officially. I created this account on my friend's birthday, so I declare that day as Anything But Sugarfree's birthday - 7th July or 7/7 if you like.

I always had the urge to blog and so I started with a typical beauty blog about a year ago, but that really didn't work out. I like makeup, but I don't want to be limited by that. There is so much more to blog about. I cannot tell what this will result into, let's just see how it goes!

Wherever you go, go with all your heart.
